Sir defeated Cruzeiro 3-0 and qualified for the semi-final, but for the coach it was a day of mourning: “Experiencing all this from afar, while my heart would have liked to be there, was still an unexpected gift: my players and my staff were there. In that circle of work and trust I was surrounded by affection”

The night brought news that changes the meaning of everything. Giuseppe Lorenzetti, father of Angelo Lorenzetti, coach of Perugia, passed away while the team was in Brazil, fighting for the Club World Cup. After the overwhelming 3-0 victory against Cruzeiro and the conquest of first place in the group and in the semi-final, the coach remembered him with sweet words: “Daddy is a beautiful word. Having been able to pronounce it for more than 60 years is an immense gratitude towards the life that has given me the opportunity to be proud of an honest and reliable father… and so the already present absence becomes lighter. Experiencing all this from afar, while my heart would have liked to be there, was still an unexpected gift: my players and my staff were there, I was surrounded by affection. In a note the club expressed its closeness: “The President Gino Sirci, the club management, the technical and medical staff and the entire Juventus club, join in their condolences around the coach”. The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday 20 December (at 7pm and 10.30pm Italian time), while the finals will be played on Sunday, with the title match starting at 10.30pm Italian time.
