Looking back: Telstar exhibition campaign starts with triptych against IJmuiden and Stormvogels

After Telstar appeared on the training field for the first time last Monday, Mike Snoei’s team also played its first games of the season today. The exhibition campaign was kicked off with a triptych against fellow countrymen VV IJmuiden (7-0) and Stormvogels (1-1).

Telstar played 45 minutes twice. In the first half third division club VV IJmuiden was the opponent. In this game, test players Zakaria Eddahchouri (Kon. HFC) and Aleae-Eddine Bouyaghlafen (Spartan ’20), among others, got the chance to show themselves. Eddahchouri in particular made a good impression. The attacker scored four goals. The other three goals came from Christos Giousis and Zakaria Fatihi.

In the second half there were eleven other names on the field. Stormvogels, also playing in the third division, offered strong resistance. Telstar only scored once thanks to a striking header from Under 21 player Mano Olfers. Stormvogels even managed to score the equalizer in the final phase. Former Telstar player Melle Springer hit a free kick with a lot of feeling in the intersection. Springer passed with this goalkeeper Ondreij Mastny, who is on trial with Telstar after he was supposed to be allowed to leave Manchester United.

Newcomer(s)

Mike Snoei said that no decision has yet been made about any test player. Telstar’s trainer would like to see goalkeeper Mastny more at work. The same goes for Eddahchouri. According to Snoei, the latter is someone who would fit Telstar well.

In addition, Snoei was very satisfied with the match and with Lassana Faye in general. The left wing defender, who played for Sparta and Vitesse in the past, showed himself with a number of flawless crosses.
