Adeline Johnson was disappointed after the race. A young woman of high school age finished fourth at 1,600 meters. A third-place finish would have earned a spot in the state championships.

Among others, a trans athlete came before Johnson Athena Ryan, which was second in the final results. He now gets to compete for the California championship.

The situation hurt Johnson, which was reflected in the award ceremony. Johnson first waved to the crowd, but then gave a thumbs down. The gesture and the result caused an uproar, which made the news, among other things Daily Mail.

Clay Travis, an American sports reporter, author and lawyer commented on the result and the award ceremony on Twitter. According to the man, Ryan would have finished last in the boys’ race.

“Ryan took away a spot at the state championships from a girl who deserved it. Look at the fourth place girl in the picture. He’s pissed off, as he should be,” Travis writes, referring to Johnson.

American decathlon Olympic champion Caitlyn Jenner73, also commented on the outcome of the race on Twitter.

– This is wrong, Jenner growled.

He has previously criticized the participation of transgender athletes in women’s leagues.

The story continues after the video.

“offensive”

Protesters had arrived at the sporting event. They supported a banner that read: “Save women’s sports”. The actions of the demonstrators caused aggravation.

– That is disgusting as hell. I find that offensive, one woman commented on a video that was filmed at the event.

The protesters were eventually removed from the area by security guards.

– They kicked us out because we care about women and girls, one of the protesters commented after the incident.

Ryan didn’t seem bothered by the noise outside. He was thrilled with his performance.

– In two weeks, I have improved my best time of the season by 17 seconds, Ryan was happy.

Ryan only followed the rules, because in California interscholastic events you can compete in the series that you feel is suitable for your own gender identity.
