Organizer Le Champion speaks of few incidents today. Director Matthijs Mennes mainly devotes the ‘good set -up’ of the event and the fine weather conditions for athletes. The finish of the run is normally on Peperstraat. But there are work, so now on the castle. “It is a very nice place on the water. With more space so that we can unpack a little more.”
In terms of temperature it is also different than last year. The circumstances last year were different in terms of sun strength and humidity: then the Dam to Damloop was stopped due to incidents. “That’s why we started an hour earlier today,” says Mennes. A large group of riders also started early in the day during the ‘cool period’. “This makes this an almost flawless edition with especially happy people.”
There was one somewhat larger incident. Around 2.30 pm a person in the ambulance was taken to the hospital. The incident happened at the finish. “I can’t say anything about that in connection with privacy,” says Mennes. Furthermore, there are currently no medical incidents to report.
