The incident took place in Chonburi province, near the popular tourist destination of Pattaya. According to Panissara Thannaree (50), the wife of Dany Snauwaert (70), their granddaughter was cycling on the road when she was suddenly attacked by street dogs. In a panic, the girl abandoned her bicycle and ran away.

The driver of a pickup truck noticed the child’s bicycle on the street too late and crashed into it, resulting in damage to his vehicle. The man got out and started shouting angrily. At that moment, Dany Snauwaert (70) rushed outside, alarmed by the noise.

Dany (70) saw the damaged bike and shouted “fuck” thinking the girl had been injured. However, the Thai driver interpreted this as an insult, became angry and dealt several severe blows to the retired Belgian. The images show how he knocks Dany (70) to the ground and gives him a few kicks.

The Thai driver then also demanded compensation for the damage to his vehicle. “I have lived in Thailand for twenty years and don’t want to think negatively about the people, but this man showed abnormal behavior,” says Dany (70). “It was like he had been on drugs.” The Belgian filed a complaint against the man with the police.
