NHL boss Gary Bettman Looks like a little boy as he poses wide with a widespread smile of 198 centimeters and 99 kg Mason West alongside.

West is wearing a Chicago shirt as the traditional club booked him in the first round of Draft at number 29. It was a big risk.

-He’s not dedicated to ice hockey 100 %, Chicago GM Kyle Davidson reveal On the NHL website.

West also plays American football. And play it quite well. His goal is to win the state championship next fall in Minnesota.

Many university teams would like a top -notch quarterback after that. However, West has said that he plans to invest in hockey in the future.

But can a 17-year-old teenage boy still change?

As Thompson

Davidson thinks that West could have gone to the booking much before, but the Yankee football threat was certainly scared of many clubs. He also thought about it.

– But then I thought we were going to get big fish and so we did.

The reason was very clear.

“That size guy who is such a sporty, talented and skilled skating is just the sky,” says Davidson.

West has been compared to the NHL star To Tage Thompsonwho has banged 158 regular season goals in the Taala League for the last four seasons.

– I want to be like Tage Thompson, but I also want to be myself. I’m a unique player in the sense that I try to do things that many long players can’t, says West.

The attacker scattered 27 goals and 49 points in the Minnesota High School League last season in the Minnesota High School League.

Control

The NHL has previously reserved two sports. One of them is Anders Leewho, like West, was a promising quarterback in the Yankee football.

Lee once played in Edina’s high school team in Minnesota, where West plays now, both hockey and American football. Lee is today one of the biggest legends of the school.

However, the New York Islanders only booked him at the sixth round at number 152, as many clubs feared the attacker’s investment in football.

Lee has given West practical advice between two species.

– He’s a great guy. It was nice to get advice from a guy who has gone through the same thing, West says.

Follow the heart

According to Lee, the choice of species is not an easy process.

– It’s hard to love both species.

He has instructed West to listen to his heart.

Lee had the opportunity to move after the Yankee football in Northern Illinois to university, but he chose hockey and Notre Dame University. There he played three seasons before moving to the NHL in 2013.

Now the 34-year-old Islanders skipper already has 841 NHL regular season games and 507 (289+218) points. In his best season, the striker has scored 40 goals and 62 points.

West plans to follow Lee’s footsteps. He has already promised to launch hockey work on the Michigan State University team next December.

But before that, the boy in growing up is going to get about 4.5 pounds more muscle.
