London sees problems and weaknesses in Russian partial mobilization

LONDON (dpa-AFX) – According to British secret services, Russia is encountering considerable problems with its partial mobilization. Reservists who have been drafted are currently temporarily gathering in tent camps, according to the daily short report from the British Ministry of Defense on Monday. This indicates that the military is having trouble training recruits and finding officers to lead new units. The secret services also strongly assume that since partial mobilization was announced on September 21, Russians who do not actually fall under the definition of the recruitment wave have already been conscripted.

Even the Russian President Wladimir Putin admitted a week later to his National Security Council that mistakes had been made and warned they must not happen again. The British see this admission as a sign of serious problems. Regional officers would presumably not know the exact scope or goals of the mobilization.

The British Ministry of Defense has published daily information on the course of the war since the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine on February 24, citing intelligence information. In doing so, the British government wants to both counter the Russian portrayal and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a targeted disinformation campaign./swe/DP/ngu
