Lola Young poses with Lily Allen and Olivia Rodrigo at Christmas party. Her subsequent emotional Instagram message announces a gradual return in 2026.
Lola Young suffered a breakdown during a live performance in September. Shortly afterwards, the young British artist announced via social media that she was canceling her tour and taking an indefinite break and withdrew from the spotlight for the time being.
Last Saturday, December 20th, she was spotted at Lily Allen’s Christmas party. The two posed for a photo with American colleague Olivia Rodrigo. Now she has sent a message to her fans in which she seems to vaguely hint at a comeback in 2026.
Breakdown and Instagram statement
The singer collapsed while performing her song “Conceited” at the All Things Go Festival at Forest Hills Stadium in New York on September 27. She was taken behind the stage by paramedics and ended her gig early. Shortly afterwards, the 24-year-old released a statement on Instagram in which she canceled upcoming performances, thanked her fans for their support and revealed that she was “hoping for a second chance” when she was ready.
First signs of life since September and comeback in 2026?
People magazine recently reported the first sign of life in the form of a photo that has circulated online since Lola Young’s collapse. It was created at a Christmas party hosted by Lily Allen. You can see the hostess in a Mrs. Clause-inspired lingerie look, Young in a tight leather outfit and her American colleague Olivia Rodrigo in a lace little black dress.

One day after the ceremony, the “Messy” singer officially returned via Instagram and wrote in her statement: “I would like to thank everyone who gave me time and space to collect myself and organize my thoughts. I felt so much love and support from all of you, and that helped me more than you can imagine.”
She had this to say about her return to the world’s music stages: “I hope that I can gradually perform again and continue to pursue my dreams. I wish you all a happy holiday and look forward to seeing you again in 2026.”

Reasons for the break and the cautious return
Lola Young has suffered from schizoaffective disorder since she was 17, with symptoms ranging from those of bipolar disorder to schizophrenic components. In 2022 she announced her diagnosis and declared it her “superpower”. The Croydon-born musician also emphasized that she did not want to be reduced to the disease.
Young also makes no secret of the fact that she is struggling with health problems: while her song “Messy” was getting more and more popular in the fall of 2024, she was being treated in a rehab clinic, for example. She had been suffering from a cocaine addiction for a long time, as she revealed in an interview with The Guardian in mid-September. “It was a struggle – I definitely had to work on my inner healing while struggling with touring and other things.”
The artist announced her current state of health in her Instagram post: “Life is a journey, nothing is perfect, but today I’m doing well.”
