Bully is at it again – but who has to stop themselves from laughing this time?
Amazon Prime Video has announced the release of a new season of the comedy show “LOL: Last One Laughing” in spring 2025. The sixth edition of the show will consist of six episodes as usual.
To laugh in the basement
There should be no fundamental changes to the concept either. Locked in a room full of cameras, ten prominent personalities from the fields of comedy, acting and entertainment compete against each other in a competition: whoever giggles first is thrown out. The crux of the matter: The fellow contestants continually try to make each other laugh with gags and performances of all kinds. Only those who keep their nerves and laughing muscles under control can be happy about 50,000 euros for a good cause at the end – and then finally with a big grin.
Michael “Bully” Herbig will again take on the role of host and strict mouth control in the sequel. The presenter was enthusiastic about Amazon’s announcement: “I’m really happy that ‘LOL’ is making people so happy. The show has really grown on me.”
It is not yet known which guests the entertainer will receive in the new season. An exact date has not yet been set.
Successful format originally comes from Japan
Since its debut in Germany in 2021, the show has become a streaming success and won several awards – including the German Television Prize and the German Comedy Prize.
Previous winners included Thorsten Sträter, Max Giermann and Anke Engelke. The series was also nominated for the International Emmy and, in addition to the regular seasons, also produced special editions – such as the recent Halloween special with Tom and Bill Kaulitz.
However, “LOL: Last One Laughing” originally comes from Japan. In 2016, the format already thrilled its fans there under the title “Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental”. The concept was then adapted for numerous other markets – including Germany, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, Spain and Mexico.
