The five alderman posts were then distributed one by one, each time with a vote by the 27 council members. Sandy Buysschaert from CD&V was elected for the first aldermanic position. The second aldermanship went to Dennis Monte of N-VA. The third alderman’s post went to Philip Konings of Team Blankenberge.

This immediately means that Team Blankenberge – the largest party after the October 13 election – can also provide the mayor. That is Bjorn Prasse, who remains mayor. After the third appointment for an alderman’s post, he proposed to suspend the session. The fourth alderman who was elected is Nadia Cloetens, again from N-VA. The fifth alderman’s post goes to Patrick De Meulenaere from Vooruit.

Kathy Kamoen has been elected from Team Blankenberge as chairman of the Council for Social Welfare, and therefore added alderman for Social Affairs. She was already a cultural alderman in the previous policy team. A ‘reflection coalition’ with a representative of each party (including Vlaams Belang, which wanted that) was therefore not created.
