Almost a week ago, last Thursday, July 31, the Spanish fashion house Loewe opened its first shop in Vienna and thus in Austria. This is located in the middle of the Kohlmarkt and thus in one of the most sought -after shopping streets in Vienna, which is known for its range of luxury goods.

The 347 square meter store offers LOEWE’s women’s and men’s fashion, bags, accessories, shoes, small leather goods, glasses and jewelry as well as scarves and towels.

The inside of the shop is kept in earth tones, such as handmade ceramic tiles on the walls in brown, green, white and silver tones that meet on marble. Ceiling and shelf element made of oak are supplemented by details made of brass and concrete and contrasted with linen and velvet.

Loewe now also in Vienna

The shop’s pieces of furniture were carefully curated: chairs by the American architect and designer George Nakashima can be found alongside the “Utrecht” chairs of the Dutch designer and architect Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, illuminated by the lighting culture N33 and Akari 1a of the American artist Isamu Noguchi (see first picture).

The shop also invites you to linger in Berin Club armchairs by the American artist Tyler Hay and, through ancient Spanish ceramic vessels, reminds of its origin, also by custom-made wool carpets from Spanish production, show the reproductions of the abstract landscapes of the British textile art John Allen.

“The typical Loewe designs, including a table made of recycled leather and a bench made of buffer leather, testify to the professional leather processing and the commitment of the brand for sustainability,” says a message.

Art complements Loewe offer

The brand also presents a selection of pieces from its art, handicrafts and design collection, such as four still lifes by the Canadian artist Silas Borsos- “The Misunderstanding”, “Jam Muses”, “Green Orchestra” and “Sundial”- “which play with the border between abundance and impending decay”.

Seven works by the British Töpfer Ian Godfrey can be seen as well as ten sculptures by the Korean metal worker and finalist of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prices 2023 Jaiik Lee, completed by the painting “Adoration” by the American artist Ian Felice.

The Spanish fashion house currently runs two shops in Switzerland – in Zurich and Geneva – and six in Germany – two in Munich and one in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main and Ingolstadt – and has now added its first shop in Austria with Vienna.
