Lizzo covered Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ ‘Unholy’ during a performance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge – complete with live band, backing vocals and flute solo. See a recording of their version here.
In addition to the “Unholy” cover, Lizzo presented her own song “About Damn Time” from her current album SPECIAL. It recently won a Grammy in the Record Of The Year category, while the remix by German DJ Purple Disco Machine won in the Best Remixed Recording category.
Sam Smith and Kim Petras won the 2023 Grammys for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance for Unholy. They received a lot of praise for their performance, but also criticism from conservatives who saw Satanism in their outfit and music.
All three artists recently appeared at the BRIT Awards 2023.
