Ninth place in the table, which is worrying for Liverpool fans, is not “the biggest concern” for coach Jürgen Klopp. There are “many others,” said Klopp after the embarrassing 2-1 draw against Leeds United on Saturday night.
But of course he looks at the distance to the European Cup places: “At least I’m not so stupid that I don’t know any distances and I know who’s up there. But you can’t qualify for the Champions League if you play so inconsistently like we are right now.”
His team has to correct the mistakes, “and we’ll see where we end up,” said the 55-year-old. “We all know that anything is possible – or at least a lot of things are possible, but to do that you have to win football games and we haven’t done that often enough.”
With a total of 16 points, the Reds are already eight points behind in fourth place, which entitles them to participate in next season’s Champions League.
