Relay women 4×400 meters also to the final
Eveline Saalberg, Lieke Klaver, Myrte van der Schoot and Lisanne de Witte ran in the second of two series to third place in a time of 3.24.03. That classification meant a direct passage to the final on Sunday.
There was a hitch at the Wissel between second runner Klaver and Van der Schoot. The two almost dropped the baton. Final runner De Witte started her round second and was overtaken just before the finish by the Belgian Helena Ponette. The American team won the series signed in 3.22.53.
The Dutch quartet defends the world title in Tokyo. Bol, Klaver, Saalberg and Cathelijn Peeters conquered the gold at the 2023 World Cup in Budapest. Last year the team achieved silver at the Paris Olympic Games. Bol and Klaver then formed the team together with Peeters and De Witte. Peeters is missing in Tokyo due to an injury.
