US troops arrive in Israel to monitor Gaza ceasefire
American troops are slowly arriving in Israel. They will become part of a force that will monitor a ceasefire in Gaza. ABC News reports this.
This weekend, a team of more than 200 people will arrive in Israel from the United States and other bases in the Middle East. Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of the US military, arrived in Israel on Friday.
Officials have said U.S. personnel should help set up a joint control center and then integrate all other security forces heading into Gaza and help connect with the Israeli military.
Egyptian, Qatari, Turkish and likely Emirati military officials will be part of the team, likely based out of Egypt. Officials have said no U.S. troops will go to Gaza.
