Trump: Putin can speak to me without meeting Zenski
US President Trump is willing to speak Russian President Putin, even if he refuses to meet the Ukrainian President Zelenski. Putin does not first have to agree with a meeting with Zelenski, the American leader said about his attempt to reach a file between the Russians and Ukraine.
Putin said earlier on Thursday that he thinks it is too early for direct conversations with his Ukrainian colleague. He says he is “in general” not against negotiations, but believes that certain conditions must be met.
The meeting between Trump and Putin is probably next week. According to unconfirmed media reports, there is a plan on the table for a ceasefire, so no peace treaty. Furthermore, Russia should keep his conquered areas in Ukraine, but Moscow does not get a guarantee that Ukraine will stay outside of NATO.
