Live ticker Towers Hamburg – FC Bayern Munich (BBL 2022/2023, 4th matchday)

24

21:36

Out of nowhere, the previously unassuming Marvin Clark appears and three-points the Towers back into the lead!

24

21:36

Corey Walden and Cassius Winston are now on the Munich floor together, Vladimir Lučić takes over the three.

23

21:34

Now, however, Wimberg slightly pulls out his hips against McCullum. The 26-year-old from Illinois keeps the Towers offensive department alive practically alone and has also scored twice from the free-throw line.

23

21:33

Jan Wimberg shows a good game today, drives the next strong drive to the basket.

22

21:31

Kendale McCullum converts Hamburg’s second three of the game and brings the Towers back to within two points!

22

21:30

Ziga Samar tanks up, but finds no passing station under the basket and throws right into the arms of Obst.

21

21:29

It goes on! Andreas Obst is looking for a quick threesome, but only hits the edge of the basket.

21

21:28

Beginning of 3rd quarter

20

21:15

Mid-term conclusion:
Bayern turned the game around completely! In the first quarter, the Munich team lined up one turnover after the next, in the second period they acted much more concentrated, especially on the defensive. The Towers also suffered from the fact that the three-way quota doesn’t fit at all – the Hanseatic townspeople only used an attempt from downtown.

20

21:13

Not much else goes together at the Towers. Len Schoormann puts a three from the left corner wide, probably sees the approaching Jan Wimberg in the corner of his eye.

19

21:11

The scene is checked again because Wimberg’s foot is very close to the line. But it stays with the threesome of the former Niner!

19

21:09

Jan Wimberg with the flat three from the right corner! The former Chemnitz player has already scored more points than in the entire season before. There are five counters.

18

21:07

Andi Obst with the next three, leading FCB! Raoul Korner takes the next timeout. His protégés only scored five points in the second quarter.

18

21:05

Jan Wimberg with a strong drive, shortened to one point!

17

21:03

Strange scene, several players are suddenly on the ground. In the end, however, the Munich team actually manages to prevent the next turnover!

16

21:02

Now, however, Cassius Winston with the three after a Zipser pass. Bavaria is within striking distance.

15

21:00

Kendale McCullum with the fast break points, the towers are just getting in a little better.

14

21:00

After almost four minutes in the second third, the Towers finally got their first three! At the same time, Ziga Samar got Hamburg’s first points in the second section.

13.

20:58

Both teams are acting better in defense. The break seems to have done the Towers good. Raoul Korner wants to avoid switching on defense.

12.

20:55

Cassius Winston completes the attack that follows. Now it is Raoul Korner who is asking for a time-out.

12.

20:54

On the other side, Len Schoormann misses a difficult three, Paul Zipser grabs the rebound.

12.

20:53

Cassius Winston with the threesome over WoBo! Bayern is suddenly only seven points behind.

11.

20:52

That’s a nice pass relay of Munich. Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann tries to block but comes a touch too late against Freddie Gillespie.

11.

20:51

Beginning of 2nd quarter

10

20:50

Quarter conclusion:
Whipped on by the crowd, the Towers put in a great first quarter and repeatedly forced inattentive Munich players to lose possession. Corey Walden alone has three turnovers.

10

20:49

Ziga Samar pushes through to Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann, who scores points 24 and 25! Which would have been possible for the Towers if the threes had also sat.

9.

20:47

The tenth attempt is finally successful, Andi Obst shortens a little for Bayern from the left corner.

9.

20:47

Both teams are still waiting for a successful threesome.

9.

20:46

Jan Wimberg with the next bad pass, Cassius Winston has to iron out a foul. After all, the team foul limit has not yet been reached.

8th.

20:45

Yoeli Childs’ one-handed floater succeeds again. Whipped up by the audience, the Hanseatic townspeople put down an impressive first quarter!

8th.

20:44

Madness, the Towers with the next steal! Kendale McCullum grabs the ball again and puts it in himself. 17:6!

7.

20:43

…and Meissner, of all people, takes advantage of that! Andrea Trinchieri also picks up the technical foul.

7.

20:43

Another three by Lukas Meisner does not sit. On the other side, however, the Munich team immediately lose the next ball!

6.

20:40

Even with four turnovers, the Munich team are in less than six minutes. Hamburg leads 12:6, Andrea Trinchieri takes a break.

6.

20:39

Kendale McCullum with four points in thirteen seconds! Corey Walden had carelessly lost the ball and allowed the fast break.

5.

20:38

The first free throws on both sides. Both Yoeli Childs and Vladimir Lučić are doubly successful.

4.

20:36

Great pass to Ziga Samar, but Corey Walden knocks the ball out of his hand!

3.

20:35

The threesomes do not succeed at all on both sides. An attempt by Nick Weiler-Babb is also far too imprecise, just touching the edge of the basket.

3.

20:34

Now, however, Childs is clearly extending his shoulder against Freddie Gillespie on the offensive.

2.

20:33

Now the towers are also on the scoreboard, Yoeli Childs unpacks the one-handed floater.

2.

20:32

After a good minute, Freddie Gillespie gets the first points of the game after a pass from Nick Weiler-Babb.

2.

20:32

Ziga Samar’s free three-pointer doesn’t sit on the other side either, but Kendale McCullum secures the rebound.

1.

20:31

Bayern with the first ball possession. Corey Walden goes for a threesome, but only gets an airball.

20:29

Kendale McCullum, Ziga Samar, Christoph Philipps, Lukas Meisner and Yoeli Childs start for the Towers. Injury-plagued Bayern Munich start with Corey Walden, Ognjen Jaramaz, Nick Weiler-Babb, Vladimir Lučić and Freddie Gillespie.

20:20

The edel-optics.de Arena is sold out today! 3,400 spectators fit in here.

20:13

The Towers also recently suffered two home defeats. An 86:92 win against Ludwigsburg in the DBB Cup was followed by an 83:88 defeat in the EuroCup against Türk Telekom during the week. After the opening win against Budocnost, they are still in good shape on the international stage, but the knockout round in the national cup competition is a major setback.

20:09

The Munich team lost to both FC Barcelona and Olimpia Milano at home in the Audi Dome, and after a weak second half they lost to the Italians by only two points. To make matters worse, Othello Hunter was injured during the game and is out this week.

20:07

Second place against seventh place – to speak of a crisis game here would be presumptuous. And yet it would certainly not hurt either team to win again after two defeats in a row. Especially on the Bayern side, the mood should be subdued after two more EuroLeague defeats.

20:04

The BBL top game on Saturday is coming up! The Towers Hamburg receive FC Bayern Munich. It starts at 8:30 p.m. in the Hanseatic city!
