Yellow card for Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

Davies wins the ball high against Ziyech, but then puts the ball too far forward, whereupon he immediately loses it again against Boey. However, the Canadian then follows up hard and hits Boey with a kick to the ankle right in front of the referee’s eyes. Of course that gives yellow.

9:16 p.m

Aktürkoğlu slips away and the German record champions counter. However, Musiala and Coman lack the pace. The guests from Istanbul have enough time to regroup, so FCB has to call off the attack because all of the passing stations have been blocked accordingly.

9:15 p.m

The bell almost rings for the first time in this game. The Reds fuel their way forward with two passes, whereupon Sané appears alone in front of Muslera. From a tight angle he tries to pass the ball past the opposing keeper, but the goalkeeper stretches and snatches the ball away from the German international at the last second.

14′

9:14 p.m

Boey clears a Sané cross for a corner. Sané executes himself, but brings the resting ball in far too hard. The ball rushes to the other wing, out of reach of all players positioned in the penalty area. No danger.

11′

9:12 p.m

Gala continues to press like there is no tomorrow and wins the ball again in the danger zone. A cross pass lands at the completely free Ziyech, who, however, hesitates too long before finishing from 17 meters. Davies throws himself in and successfully blocks the shot before Kim energetically heads away Boey’s subsequent cross.

Although the Lions are running high, Davies is able to free himself playfully by outdancing three opponents while dribbling. This gives Bayern a promising attack, but Coman makes a technical error when receiving the ball, whereupon the ball ends up out of bounds and nothing else burns.

5′

9:05 p.m

There is the hosts’ first chance: Davies wins the ball with a high press and immediately serves Kane, who doesn’t need to be asked twice and shoots powerfully from 18 meters. Muslera is just able to direct the hard right-footed shot over the crossbar. The subsequent corner then brings in nothing further.

3′

9:04 p.m

At least for a short time, the fans of the German record champions, who are almost outnumbered in terms of noise level, have to hold their breath. After a pass, Icardi is through. When he lobs, Neuer stays cool and holds securely. However, it is an offside position anyway.

9:03 p.m

The Turks press extremely high and win the ball in Munich’s third. But Kimmich is wide awake and fairly separates Ziyech from the ball before it becomes dangerous.

Kick-off in the Allianz Arena. The home team will be wearing all black today. The guests from Istanbul wear red and orange jerseys over white pants. Let’s go.

8:32 p.m

Incidentally, Bayern have remained unbeaten against Galatasaray in three competitive games so far (two wins, one draw). Before the first leg, however, both clubs had only met in the European Champions Cup in the 1972/73 season. After the 1-1 draw in Istanbul, Munich celebrated a brilliant 6-0 home win in the second leg. To this day, this is still the joint highest win that FCB has ever recorded in a European competition.

20:26

In their own stadium, the German record champions are almost untouchable in the premier class. At least when it comes to the group phase. From the last 28 home games in the preliminary round of the Champions League, the kickers from the Isar scored a whopping 82 out of 84 possible points (27 wins, one draw). Only Ajax Amsterdam was able to avoid an away defeat in Munich in October 2018.

8:20 p.m

Bayern already won the first leg of Group A 3-1 in Istanbul and comfortably lead the table with nine out of nine possible points. Surprisingly, Galatasaray is five points behind. The Turks, who are currently the absolute benchmark in the Süper Lig with 31 out of 33 possible points, succeeded in their last Champions League away game at the beginning of October when they beat Manchester United 3-2 at the Theater of Dreams became. Gala thus ended a drought of 18 Champions League away games in a row without a win (three draws, 14 defeats).

20:13

Galatasaray celebrated a 2-1 home win over city rivals Kasımpaşa Istanbul at the dress rehearsal last Friday. In comparison, coach Okan Buruk also only made one change to his starting line-up: Angeliño, on loan from RB Leipzig, starts on the left side of defense for Victor Nelsson (bench).

8:08 p.m

Let’s look directly at the line-ups: There is no rotation at FCB compared to the classic they won. Thomas Tuchel only brings on Joshua Kimmich for Konrad Laimer (bench). It is the only change for the German record champions.

20:02

FC Bayern Munich learned just last week how close disappointment and ecstasy can be. First the Reds completely surprisingly failed in the DFB Cup against third division team Saarbrücken (1:2), before they silenced all critics with a brilliant 4-0 away win at Borussia Dortmund in the German classic just three days later. It is now important to build on this in the premier class.

19:56

Good evening and welcome from the Allianz Arena. FC Bayern Munich will welcome Galatasaray here today at 9:00 p.m. as part of the fourth matchday of the UEFA Champions League.
