Live ticker Borussia Dortmund – VfL Bochum (Bundesliga 2023/2024, 19th matchday)

Borussia Dortmund have only won one of their last five Bundesliga games against VfL Bochum (D3 L1). Bochum remained unbeaten in the last two BL duels against Dortmund (D2) – VfL last remained unbeaten longer in the upper house against BVB between March 1991 and August 1992 (even four games).

Borussia Dortmund lost two of its last four Bundesliga home games (W1 D1), which is as many home defeats as the Black and Yellows had conceded in their previous 25 games in the upper house in front of their home crowd. Since the beginning of December 2023, Borussia Dortmund has only picked up one point in home games in the Bundesliga, only Wolfsburg has picked up less at home in the same period (0). In contrast, VfL Bochum did not manage to win a single point in the upper house during this period and only scored an away goal.

VfL Bochum recently won 1-0 against VfB Stuttgart for the first time in the Bundesliga against a team from the top five in the table after five such games without a win (D3 L2). The last time VfL won twice in a row was in April 2007 against representatives of this top group in the upper house.

Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko scored the last points against Darmstadt (3-0) and Cologne (4-0) with his two goals and scored for the first time in two Bundesliga games in a row. He also scored his only brace in the upper house in BVB’s last home game against VfL Bochum in November 2022 (3-0).

Dortmund’s Donyell Malen recently scored his second Bundesliga brace against Cologne (previously also scored 2 goals against Frankfurt in April 2023), and with seven goals this season he is his team’s top scorer this BL season. In the first leg against VfL Bochum on matchday 2, he scored to make the final score 1-1.

Bernardo is missing from VfL Bochum due to a yellow card suspension – on the first 18 match days of this Bundesliga season, only Willian Pacho and Patrick Mainka (1,620 each) played more minutes than him (1,619) among all outfield players. This BL season he won the most duels (143) and made the most tackles (53) of all players.
