LIVE. Some 1,000 arrested in fourth night of unrest in France – Nahel will be buried today

Despite the deployment of 45,000 agents, France has had another restless night, with riots, looting and arson. The atmosphere in several cities was again very tense, but the violence was “much less intense”, authorities say. At least 994 arrests were reported across the country. At least 100 preventive arrests were also made in Brussels, but major disturbances failed to materialise. The 17-year-old Nahel, who was shot dead by the police on Tuesday, after which the riots started, will be buried today. Follow everything closely in our live blog here.
