Kherson, the strategically important port city in the south of Ukraine, is said to be in the hands of the Russians. That reports the American newspaper The New York Times. “There is no Ukrainian army here. The city is surrounded,” the mayor of Kherson said. Ukraine is also demanding a ceasefire in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Kharkiv and Sumi so that civilians can be taken to safety.
