Iga Swiatek (24) is in the fourth round. The Polish tennis star defeated her compatriot who was ten years older Magda Linette on the clay of Paris in two sets: 6-4 6-4. Swiatek will now face Ukrainian Marta Kostjoek for a place in the quarter-finals.

Shelton fails in second round

Ben Shelton is eliminated in the second round. The fourth-seeded American lost to the Belgian Raphaël Collignon in three sets: 6-4 7-5 6-4.

Shelton reached the fourth round on the clay in Paris last year, but failed in the Belgian number 62 in the world rankings an opponent who took his chances. In all three sets he only needed a break to win the set.

24-year-old Collignon, who for the first time at the main tournament of Roland Garros is active, struck on the few breakpoints and did not give any away himself. After just over 2 hours he used his first match point.

Sabalenka moves into the third round without difficulty

Aryna Sabalenka has reached the third round at Roland Garros. The world number 1 from Belarus won in two sets against Elsa Jacquemot from France: 7-5 6-2.

Against Jacquemot, number 67 in the world rankings, Sabalenka surrendered her serve once in the first set. She won the Frenchwoman twice. In the second set, she survived three break points in her first game and won her opponent’s serve twice. After handing in her own serve again, she immediately broke back and she used her first match point.

Sabalenka is still chasing her first title in Paris. Last year she lost the final to the American Coco Gauff. In the third round she will face the Russian native Daria Kasatkinawho plays for Australia.

Cerundolo wins!

Jannik Sinner is out. Cerundolo completes the verdict with a service break: 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1.

Cerundolo eliminates two break opportunities

Sinner seems to be steadily gaining strength again, he creates two break opportunities, but they remain unused because his Argentinian opponent remains extremely cool under pressure: 5-1.

Sinner gives something back

He wins his own service game, although it is not at all easy: 4-1 in the fifth set. The deficit is still a double break.

Global number one is not involved

Although things seem to be getting a little better, Sinner is still constantly lagging behind. Cerundolo cannot be fooled: 4-0.

Sinner on the verge of elimination

He is behind by a double break in the fifth and deciding set: 3-0. His winning streak of thirty games is in danger of coming to an end. The Italian multiple winner is still unable to move properly.

Sinner also loses the fourth set

Will the curtain fall for Jannik Sinner? The number one in the world loses the fourth set by no less than 6-1.

Sinner is also in danger of losing the fourth set

The Italian is not yet on the mend. He is down 4-1 in the second set. A mega stunt becomes more real by the minute.

Sinner in trouble?

The world number 1 seemed to advance without any problems in his second round match against Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. But suddenly he was overcome by the heat. With a 2-0, 5-2 lead, he was allowed to serve twice for the match, but from that moment on he lost seventeen points in a row. Cerúndolo then won the third set with a break in the twelfth game: 7-5.

Score: 6-2, 6-3, 5-7. Sinner still leads 2-1 in sets, but he clearly has difficulty moving. Will we soon get a thunderous surprise on the Parisian gravel?”

In the months before Roland Garros, Sinner won the masters tournaments of Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome on clay and was already the best in Indian Wells and Miami.
