After a week full of cup football, the first division will continue tonight. Leader FC Volendam meets MVV in Maastricht and Jong AZ receives VVV-Venlo. You can follow both matches live on NH Radio from 7 p.m.
Last season, Martijn Kaars personally helped FC Volendam in De Geusselt to a 2-0 lead, but the Volendammers handed over the win in injury time (2-2). Not so surprising because Volendam often has a hard time in Maastricht. Of the last seven encounters, the team only returned home in 2016 with the three points (1-2).
Form crisis
The most recent results give sufficient hope of a victory. After all, Volendam itself is unbeaten for twenty games in a row and MVV is in a form crisis. The Limburgers have been waiting for a victory for eight matches. Last week Telstar was too strong with 2-1.

Because Telstar played in the cup against PSV last night (2-1) the Velsenaren are free tonight. That means that NH Sport sends its reporter to Wijdewormer for Jong AZ – VVV-Venlo.
And where the first team is working on a strong series in the Eredivisie, the U23 team has not won since October 1. In numbers: twelve games resulted in eight defeats and four draws. Target figures: eight for and nineteen against.
We find the former list leader in fifteenth place in the first division. VVV-Venlo is eleventh and has four points more than Jong AZ, but has also played one more game.
