LIVE NH Sport: the Kist Cup and Young AZ – VVV-Venlo

Not your average competition match for Telstar tonight. Meeting De Graafschap in Doetinchem is always something special. After the death of Simon Kistemaker, the legendary trainer of both clubs, the mutual meetings have been renamed the Kist Cup. In September, De Graafschap won 1-0 in Velsen-Zuid, you can hear how it goes tonight on the radio in NH Sport.

The fact that the match is alive is evident from the large number of supporters that follow Telstar. About 250 supporters support their team on the Vijverberg. In addition to the duel between the two first divisionists, two teams of former players from De Graafschap and Telstar will also play against each other. There are various campaigns to raise money for research into the treatment of pancreatic cancer, the disease from which De Kist died at the age of 81 at the end of 2021.

Snoei and Hofstede

The match is also special for Telstar’s current trainer, Mike Snoei, and technical manager Peter Hofstede. Snoei was a trainer of the Superboeren between 2019 and 2021 and then just failed to promote. Hofstede scored 35 goals for De Graafschap in two seasons in the early 1990s. In 1991, under the leadership of Kistemaker, this resulted in the championship of the first division. Relegation from the Premier League followed a year later.

The kick-off is at 8 p.m. Frank van der Meijden reports on the duel between the current numbers eleven and thirteen in the ranking.

Young AZ – VVV-Venlo

At the same time, the ball starts rolling in Wijdewormer. Young AZ plays at home against VVV-Venlo. The Alkmaar promises took in last week against NAC Breda a hefty and flattering 5-1 defeat. Partly due to injuries in the first team, trainer Maarten Martens sees quite a few of his players move on to AZ 1.

Whether he can match the number five of the first division with his current selection, we will hear tonight. Two AZ talents who switched during the winter break play with the Limburgers: Robin Lathouwers and Soulyman Allouch.

In NH Sport between 7 pm and 10 pm we will of course also look ahead to the Eredivisie matches FC Volendam – AZ and SC Cambuur – Ajax tonight. Presentation: Robbert van den Heuvel.
