Live NH Sport: Telstar and De Graafschap looking for (goal) points

Telstar will face De Graafschap at home tonight. The Velsen residents are in a disappointing eighteenth place in the first division, while the Super Farmers occupy fifth place. Yet Telstar is by no means without a chance: the last three home games yielded the maximum score of nine points. You can follow Telstar – De Graafschap and Jong AZ – Helmond Sport live on NH Radio from 7 p.m.

It is known that Telstar has difficulty finishing chances, but De Graafschap also does not score very easily. With only sixteen goals in thirteen games, coach Jan Vreman’s team lags behind the other teams at the top of the first division. Growth genius Basar Önal, who comes from our own youth academy, is the club’s top scorer with four goals. With this he scored one goal less than Telstar’s top scorer Zakaria Eddahchouri.

Last season it was not a scoring spectacle when both clubs met. Telstar won in Doetinchem thanks to a late goal from Jonathan Mulder; Only De Graafschap player Giovanni Korte managed to score at Schoonenberg. Remarkably, both players are wearing the shirt of bottom line TOP Oss this season.

Telstar won the first edition of the Kist Cup, named after the deceased Simon Kistemaker, who was a trainer at both clubs. This prize will not be awarded this season. One of the reasons is that Telstar and De Graafschap no longer have the same sponsor who was closely involved in the organization of the Kist Cup.

Another remarkable fact is that Telstar only managed to win one match out of twelve matches the White Lionn played under the leadership of referee Martin van den Kerkhof. That was a visit to VVV-Venlo in 2015 (1-2). It should be noted that of those twelve matches, Telstar only played at home twice.

The kick-off at Telstar – De Graafschap is at 8 p.m. You will receive the commentary from Erik-Jan Brinkman.

Young AZ – Helmond Sport

Jong receives AZ Helmond Sport in Wijdewormer. The Brabanders defeated Telstar 1-0 last week. Who else but Martijn Kaars scored the only goal. The Monnickendammer is the top scorer in the first division with ten goals.

But Jong AZ also has a player in its ranks who scores very easily: Jayden Addai has nine goals to his name. The two teams are also not far apart in the rankings. Jong AZ has three points less than Helmond.

This match will be led by Boyd van Kommer. It is only the fourth match in professional football for the Leiderdorper. The first whistle sounds at 8 p.m. Menno Schilder is the reporter at the Kalverhoek sports park.

NH Sport is available from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Presentation: Robbert van den Heuvel.
