Van Weel visits Israel and the West Bank

Minister David van Weel (Foreign Affairs, VVD) will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He will visit Ramallah in the West Bank, but will not go to Gaza, according to his spokesman. His agenda includes meetings with his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts, Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Mohammad Mustafa, the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority.

According to his ministry, the main topics of discussion are compliance with the ceasefire, developing the next phases of the American peace plan, scaling up humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The outgoing minister also wants to discuss the situation in the West Bank.

Van Weel will speak to his Israeli colleague Gideon Sa’ar in Jerusalem on Thursday. On Friday he will be in Ramallah for a conversation with his Palestinian counterpart Varsen Aghabekian.
