US: “Serious talks” about pause in conflict to free hostages

A senior figure within the White House states that there is one “significant pause in the conflict” between Israel and Hamas is necessary to free the more than 240 Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip. There are currently ongoing “very serious conversations”the source said during a telephone interview with the American press.

An agreement on such a pause in the conflict has not yet been reached not in sight. There is also, according to the highly placed source there is no certainty that the parties involved will reach an agreement.

US President Joe Biden has already indicated several times not to call for a general ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been bombing its territory continuously since the Hamas terrorist attack on its territory on October 7. The Americans do argue in favor humanitarian breaksincluding to give civilians the opportunity to flee and to get foreigners in Gaza out of the country via the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

The latter has only recently started because, according to the Americans, Hamas has a evacuation list of Palestinian wounded a third of whom turned out to be Hamas members and fighters. “That was unacceptable for Egypt, for us, for Israel.”

The humanitarian pauses should make it possible to free the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip, President Biden said earlier. According to the source within the White House, Washington state in constant contact with Israel and state the Americans “tough questions” about Tel Aviv’s military targets. Thanks to that dialogue, Israel has “initial plans significantly adjusted”it sounded, without going into detail.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not want a “temporary truce” without the hostages being released, he said on Friday.
