Live blog: Go Ahead Eagles – FC Volendam (0-0), Ajax – FC Utrecht (0-0) and NEC – AZ (0-0)

Welcome to the live blog of NH Sport. We will keep you informed of all developments in the North Holland sports world. It promises to be another great sports weekend!

Go Ahead Eagles has already missed a penalty at FC Volendam. Willum Willumsson scored for the second time in a row.

No significant facts have yet happened at AZ and Ajax.

Coach Pascal Jansen chooses the same eleven players for the away match against NEC as on Thursday in the Conference League against West Ham United: Ryan, Sugawara, Hatzidiakos, Beukema, Kerkez, Reijnders, Clasie, Mijnans, Van Brederode, Pavlidis and Karlsson. Dani de Wit, among others, is sitting on the couch.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow there will be plenty of top sport again in North Holland with Ajax – FC Utrecht, NEC – AZ and Go Ahead Eagles – FC Volendam. They all start at 2.30 pm in the penultimate game in the Eredivisie. There is also attention for men’s hockey, where Bloemendaal and Pinoké compete for a place in the final for the championship. NH Sport will be back on the radio between 5 pm and 7 pm to update you on all developments on and around the sports fields.

Charlotte Kool has won the one-day race Omloop der Kempen. The cyclist from Blaricum was the first to cross the finish line in North Brabant after 128.9 kilometers. In the sprint she left the Polish Daria Pikulik and Maike van der Duin behind. For Kool it is already the fourth victory of this cycling season.

The rugby players of RC ‘t Gooi lost 31-24 in the semi-finals at Haagsche RC. The club from Naarden faced a backlog in the final pool for the championship the entire match. On Monday 29 May, RC ‘t Gooi will play against RC Eemland in-house. In a mini-competition of four, the clubs compete for a place in the final. Earlier in the afternoon, RFC Haarlem lost 31-25 visiting RC Eemland.

Hurley did not advance to the final for the championship. The hockey players from Amstelveen lost a visit to SCHC after it had already lost on Thursday (0-1). That means no North Holland final for the women’s title. Amsterdam settled earlier in the day with Den Bosch and will therefore meet SCHC in the final.

Dylan Groenewegen has won the semi-classic Veenendaal-Veenendaal. The cyclist from Amsterdam wins the cycling race for the fifth time in his career. The 29-year-old sprinter was in the mass sprint after 175.8 kilometers from the hors category. The course in Gelderland consisted of five circuits of about 35 kilometers. It included the Grebbeberg and the Paardeveld. In the sprint he beat De Kleijn and Welsford.

The hockey players of Amsterdam have dealt with Den Bosch. After a 1-1 draw last Thursday, the North Holland team won 0-1 in North Brabant. Sabine Plönissen was the match winner with the only goal of the match. For the first time in 25 years, Den Bosch is not in the final of the national championship. Amsterdam will meet the hockey players of Hurley or SCHC in the final.

The handball players of VOC have won the first game in the best-off-three. In the battle for the championship, the Amsterdam handball players won 25-32 against Venlo. Last year, Rachel de Haze’s team had to leave the national title to Venlo.

The North Holland hockey clubs Pinoké and Bloemendaal will play their second semi-final for the national championship this afternoon. Pinoké’s men won 3-1 at home against Kampong on Thursday and Bloemendaal was 2-1 too strong for Rotterdam. Can the two clubs finish this afternoon for a place in the final? Pinoké plays the return at 2.30 pm and Bloemendaal starts at 4.30 pm at ‘t Kopje against Rotterdam.

Amsterdam and Hurley are the two North Holland clubs in the semi-finals for the women. Amsterdam got stuck on a draw against Den Bosch on Thursday and Hurley went down against SCHC at home. Both clubs must therefore work hard to reach the final.

In Noord-Holland there is a lot of attention for handball. The women of VOC play their first final match for the championship against Venlo. The men from Aalsmeer visit Lions and have to win to qualify for the final matches of the HandbalNL League.
