Russia blames Ukraine for violation Romanian airspace
The Russian embassy in Romania points to Ukraine after a violation of the Romanian airspace through a drone. Romania holds Russia responsible for the incident.
The Russian ambassador Vladimir Lipajev calls the accusation of Romania unfounded. A statement from the embassy states that “all facts suggest that it was a deliberate provocation of the regime in Kiev”.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined Lipajev last weekend to protest against the violation of airspace. There was talk of “irresponsible actions” and “a lack of respect from Russia for international law”.
Romania reported on Saturday that a Russian drone violated the airspace. Two F-16s followed the unmanned device until it disappeared from the radar. According to the Ministry of Defense, the drone did not fly over inhabited areas and it was not a direct danger to the population.
