On Thursday (January 23rd) a song by Tina Turner was released that has never been heard before. “Hot For You Baby” was written by Australian singer John Paul Young and produced by John Carter.

The song was recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood and was originally intended to end up on one of the singer’s albums. The piece was considered lost for a long time, but has now been rediscovered during work on the anniversary edition for “Private Dancer”.

“Private Dancer (40th Anniversary Edition)” by Tina Turner in various editions

For its 40th birthday, the much-acclaimed hit record will be released again on March 21, 2025 in a spectacular edition with previously unreleased songs, live performances and film material. “Private Dancer (40th Anniversary Edition)” will be available on 5CD/Blu-ray, 2CD, 1LP Pearl-Vinyl and 1LP Picture Disc.

The 5CD/Blu-ray set contains the 55 minute compilation of the Private Dancer tour show filmed at the NEC in Birmingham on March 23rd and 24th 1985. There were historic performances by David Bowie and Bryan Adams. The images were captured by concert film specialist David Mallet. There’s no need to mention it because it’s obvious anyway, but Tina Turner was at her best on these evenings too.

In addition to the live performance, the set also includes five newly edited music videos, including “Private Dancer” in a 4K restoration.

“Private Dancer” brought Tina Turner a major comeback

“Private Dancer” is the fifth studio album by Tina Turner, released on May 29, 1984. It marked her big comeback and is considered one of the most successful albums of the 1980s. The best-known songs include “What’s Love Got to Do with It”, which won three Grammys alone, the title track “Private Dancer” (written by Mark Knopfler), “Better Be Good to Me” and their cover of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”.

The album sold over 12 million copies worldwide and reached number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and number 2 on the UK charts.
