Roaring engines, the scent of burning rubber, specially brewed TT Festival beer and four evenings of live music on seven stages with more than a hundred artists. The TT Festival is celebrating the 50th edition this year. This afternoon it was announced who will climb the stages of the festival.
At the end of the ride, 260,000 visitors must have been to ‘the best party of the year’, that’s the expectation.
“And we are quite special. Because we are one of the three events that do not have to hand in for the NATO summit, on the other side of the country that same week. So there is enough police guaranteed in and around Assen,” says a happy festival director Jan Gerbrand Krol. With which he just wants to prove that the 50th TT festival is also considered national ‘as something very special’.
Hence a special musical kick -off with an extra party evening ‘in the most beautiful place in the city’. That is on Wednesday 25 June with a special anniversary concert on and around the Vaart. On floating pontoons on the water, and the streets around it, according to Krol, 15,000 people can enjoy the Royal Military Chapel Johan Willem Friso.
The chapel from Assen plays together with well -known artists such as Emma Heesters, Marco Schuitmaker and Hendrik Jan Bökkers. It will be a musical tribute to 100 years of TT and 50 years TT Festival. “And engines also play an important role in that. The need for speed, you have to feel that evening,” grins Krol.
This is followed by three nights with music and other entertainment. On seven stages spread across the city on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 June artists such as Sera, Donnie, Gio, The Euros, Kevin Paré, Bizzey, Rowwen Hèze, party DJ Patrick, Russo, Beautiful Wark and Outsiders. And for the tranquility of rest there is the Silent Disco on the Brink right in front of the Drents Museum. “There was so much interest in that last edition, which was extended to 750 people.”
