Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen will be seen together in the New Music Competition.
Iltalehti already reported last October that Linda Lampenius is participating in the New Music competition. Since then, it has been debated who will sing with Lampenius or whether he will sing himself. At the beginning of the year, it became clear that Pete Parkkonen is the other side of the duo.
– I can tell this story, which I have heard many times from Linda. Linda signed a recording contract last year in Finland and then started looking for an artist. I can tell you with great joy that I was his number one wish, Parkkonen says with pride in his voice.
– Just like that, Lampenius says.
According to Lampenius in their paragraph Flamethrower every sound and every second has a purpose.
– It goes up and down a lot, it’s like a short film, not a normal pop song, Lampenius describes.
Lampenius is an artist with a long career, who already in the 90s was one of the biggest public figures. The violinist always gained fame abroad, he starred in Baywatch and even got his own cider, which at least everyone who spent their youth in the 90s remembers.

Lampenius’ decades-long burden, which can even be called torment, reached its final point a month ago, when Sanoma announced that it would return Lampenius the money from the 24-year-old forced purchase. In the said announcement published in Ilta-Sanom, Lampenius had to apologize to Peter Nygård, a businessman of Finnish background. Nygård has since been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexual crimes.
– The most important thing here is that he was convicted. After more than 24 years, I don’t have to keep quiet anymore. This thing has certainly bothered me. Now we are here, a lot of good things have happened and everything has now fallen into place, says a happy Lampenius.
The duo is looking for a win from UMK, after all it is a competition.
Lampenius was already seen at UMK last year as an interim performer. Erika Vikman won that time.
– Erika has certainly been a big inspiration, I really respect her. Erika has been showing for a long time that women have to stand up for themselves and dare to do what they want. Of course, I’m not as brave as Erika. I might not dare to be as brave on stage as he is, and he was still alone. I have Pete!
