The historic exception received by Linda Lampenius divides the opinions of viusu fans.

Violinist Linda Lampenius’ exemption has divided violin fans in two. The big topic of discussion this spring has been whether Linda will get permission from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to play her violin in the competition. According to Eurovision rules, the sound of all instruments must come from the background tape.

On Wednesday evening, it was announced that Lampenius will be allowed to play the violin live. Linda’s permission to stir up discussion, for example, in the comment fields of UMK’s and Eurovision’s Instagram and Facebook posts.

According to some international visu fans, the permission given by the EBU is unfair to other competitors.

– What about the other contestants who also play the violin? Can they play live too?

– How is this fair to other competitors who would also like to play live, but accept the rules of the competition? Let’s change the concept for one competitor, but not the others, what a joke EBU! Everyone should be allowed to play live and not just one.

– You should be ashamed that you prioritize one country over others. Are the regulations still followed for all countries, or is everything selective?

– Why is Linda so special that she gets to play the violin live? Isn’t that unfair to the other contestants? At this point, just give them the trophy, no need to hold a vote anymore. The only good thing is that a non-English song will win Eurovision in 2026.

– The EBU will do everything to ensure that Finland wins. Unfortunately, that won’t happen.

– Every performer should be allowed to play live. It’s ridiculous that the EBU wants the instruments to be heard from the background tape. Hopefully, starting next year, every instrument will be heard live again.

Some social media users are excited that Linda will be able to play the violin live. Some also show fans who are upset about the exemption.

– Some Vius fans are in pain. First they complain about not being able to hear the violin live. Now they are complaining because he is allowed to play live. Holy shit, just enjoy the music and the show.

– I am so happy for them!

– He looks better and more confident when he gets to play live.

– So many people are shouting about favoritism here. I honestly believe this is about the artist asking for permission and trying to find a solution with the EBU to make it work. I’m sure Finland didn’t get permission the first time they asked.

– Linda’s violin sounds so good.

– Thank you EBU.

Linda will represent Finland in Eurovision together Pete Parkkonen with a song Flamethrower. Finland has been the bettors’ favorite to win Eurovision this year.
