Ligue 1: Mbappe saves PSG

Ten days after losing the World Cup final against Argentina, France’s exceptional striker Kylian Mbappé celebrated a successful return to everyday life in the league.

With a converted penalty kick in the sixth minute of stoppage time, the World Cup top scorer Paris Saint-Germain scored a 2-1 (1-0) win in the home game against second-bottom Racing Strasbourg.

The two goals before that went to Marquinhos: first the Brazilian scored in the 14th minute to put Paris ahead, then he scored an own goal in the 51st minute.

Meanwhile, superstar Neymar made negative headlines: he saw a yellow card in the 61st minute for a foul, two minutes later he was sent off after an embarrassing swallow with yellow and red.

According to the TV channel “Canal+”, Neymar left the Prinzenparkstadion during the game.

World champion Messi still on special leave

PSG got their 14th win in 16 games and remains unbeaten leaders in the French championship.

While Mbappé was in the starting lineup, world champion Lionel Messi was still missing from the French champions’ squad. Strasbourg is still in relegation place 19.
