Ligue 1 – After riots: Saint-Étienne without fans

Saint-Étienne (dpa) – AS Saint-Étienne has to play its last home game of the season in the French football league without spectators. The disciplinary committee of the league association LFP punished the club for the incidents in the 1: 4 against AS Monaco last Saturday.

Fans set off pyrotechnics and the game had to be interrupted for a good half hour. Shortly before the end of the first half there was a brief interruption due to smoke bombs from the Saint-Étienne fans.

In addition to the ghost game against Stade Reims on May 14, the ten-time champion is threatened with another punishment. A decision will be made four days later. Saint-Étienne fights relegation. There have been riots at Ligue 1 games this season.
