Lightyear is a standard film, nothing more

The Movie That Made Andy Want a Buzz Lightyear Doll — Begins With That Recommendation light year† Andy, that boy from the trailblazing Toy Story, who saw his covert talking toy collection expanded to include Buzz, the plastic spaceman with a hero complex. In this origin film from the Pixarstudio, space ranger Buzz to escape a planet inhabited by unfriendly plants and arthropods, where a remnant of humanity has been stranded at his hands. It’s a standard adventure, that’s all. With faded side characters, except for Buzz’s companion Sox; an amusing robot cat. Also the suggestion of emotion in the faces of the animated characters, something the Pixar clique usually excels at, remains substandard here.

That these light year wide theatrical release and the previous, and so much more sparkly and fresh Pixar movie Turning Red not before, may also be questioned in some American committee.
