Liga more “red” than the sum of Premier, Serie A and Bundesliga. But there’s a reason

The incredible figure of the Spanish league, which has an incredible number of expulsions

A sensational fact that is testimony to how the Spanish championship is a championship with a different style of play and competitive enthusiasm, perhaps fast, but according to many marked by delusions of protagonism from the referees. La Liga is the competition that counts the highest number of expulsions, for a total of 113. A particularly high figure, which the top European leagues cannot reach even when added together.

Respectively 50 for Serie A, 33 for the Bundesliga and 28 for the Premier League for a total of 111 red cards collected. As revealed by a survey by the Spanish newspaper ASthe reason could be traced back to the behavior of the match officials, often prey to a negative emotional involvement towards the players.

La Liga, therefore, would suffer from the cold and detached behavior of the referees who would too often show red cards to the players. For this reason, in fact, there would not be many Spanish match officials to direct Champions League matches.

Another fact that makes you think: in Spain the Var is often used, which tends to distort reality. One thing is slow motion action, another the reality of live football. You analyze frames, slow down replays and get away from reality. The vast majority of the latest reds shown in La Liga have escaped the referee on the pitch and have been decreed via Var. Technology has taken on an exaggerated influence. Is La Liga football violent? No. But these same Spanish referees who expel a lot at international level do it much less. They have become unpredictable, and there is nothing worse than unpredictable arbitrage.
