Liberal newcomer wins Slovenian elections, conservatives lose

The green and liberal party Gibanje Svoboda (GS) led by newcomer Robert Golob has won the elections in Slovenia. With almost all votes counted, the party, which was only founded in January, comes in at 34.5 percent of the vote. In doing so, she leaves Prime Minister Janez Jansa’s Slovenska demokratska stranka (SDS) far behind: she received 23.6 percent of the vote.
