Close connection to France
Chelsea is apparently getting a new coach – what’s behind it

Chelsea FC are close to signing Liam Rosenior. The Londoners have a special connection to his current club.
The deal is apparently imminent: Liam Rosenior is to become the new coach of Chelsea FC. This is reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, among others. Accordingly, the 41-year-old is already in London. The deal should become official this week – as soon as Rosenior’s current club has found a successor. However, the process should take place quickly, writes Romano.
It seems quite obvious that the process could be completed quickly. Because: Rosenior has been under contract with Racing Strasbourg since 2024. The French have a special connection to Chelsea FC.
In 2023, Strasbourg was acquired by the BlueCo Group led by the US entrepreneur Todd Boehly. He has also been co-owner of Chelsea FC since May 2022. The lines between the Ligue 1 club and the Blues are correspondingly short – even in the transfer market.
Since 2023, 15 players have moved back and forth between Strasbourg and the “Blues”. It is already certain that racing captain and top striker Emanuel Emegha will be joining the English team next summer. He will probably meet his old trainer there.
Chelsea parted ways with coach Enzo Maresca at the beginning of the year, even though he won the Club World Cup with the club last summer. In December, the team only had two wins in eight games. Not enough for the club’s high standards.
