Lewis Hamilton wants to write history with Ferrari and already sets a few course in the background for the 2026 season. The seven -time world champion not only sees his task on the track, but also in the structural realignment of the traditional team from Maranello. Despite the moderately successful season 2025, he worked on 2026 with full enthusiasm.

With a view to the Formula 1 season 2026, in which a new regulations including revised aerodynamics and drive technology apply, Hamilton claims to be “the extra mile”. After moving from Mercedes to Ferrari, the Brit wants to complete what Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel was previously denied: to win the first World Cup title in the red overall since Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.

“If you look at the drivers over the past 20 years – Kimi, Fernando, Sebastian – they are all world champions,” said Hamilton. “But neither Fernando nor Sebastian were able to win the title with Ferrari. I refuse to feel the same way.”

Technical integration and strategic impulses

To prevent this, Hamilton wants to give impulses months before the 2026 standard revolution. Ferrari has been working intensively on the concept for the new car since January. Hamilton has therefore often visited the factory in Maranello.

“I have been in the factory several times in the past few weeks, I took part in meetings with the department heads, and have with John Elkann, [CEO] Benedetto Vigna, [Entwicklungschef] Loic Serra and [Teamchef] Frederic Vasseur spoke, “says the 40-year-old.

“I created a comprehensive document after the first couple races, and in the current break again two. It is about structural changes that we need. Another deals with the difficulties that I currently have by car. Things that I want to take into the next year of car and those that have to be changed.”

At the first presentation of the 2026 concept, Hamilton sat in the room with around 30 engineers. “I made a debrief with each individual. This is a really big push,” says Hamilton.

“Do not run on all cylinders”

The Briton speaks openly about internal weaknesses: “Ferrari is a huge organization with many movable parts. But not all areas on all cylinders are still running – and that is why the team has not yet had the successes that it deserves.” Therefore, he sees it as his task to critically question the decision -making processes and to give impulses in all areas.

“If you always go the same ways, you also get the same results,” says Hamilton. “I’m here to win and time is running against me.”

He was aware of the challenge, but praises the openness of the team for his suggestions. “Ferrari reacts incredibly positively. I try to win allies within the team to break new ground together.”

“I really believe that Ferrari can win several titles in the future. I want to help shape that, now.”
