Real Madrid were already six points ahead of the game. But in the guest game in Vigo, FC Barcelona was able to shorten the gap – thanks to their goalscorer.

A hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski gave FC Barcelona three points in their away game in Vigo. The former FC Bayern striker scored with a hand penalty in the 10th minute of the 4-2 win (3-2) on Sunday evening and added two more goals in the 37th and 73rd minutes.

The interim 3:2 for Barcelona was achieved by top talent and European champion Lamine Yamal (45th + 3 minutes). Celta Vigo equalized twice before through Sergio Carreira (11th) and ex-Leverkusen player Borja Iglesias (43rd). But it wasn’t enough for the home team.

For Lewandowski it was goals five, six and seven of the season. The 37-year-old is now in second place on the top scorers list alongside Atletico star Julián Álvarez. First is Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé with 13 goals.

The victory also lets ex-national coach and Barcelona coach Hansi Flick breathe a sigh of relief. During the week his team only played 3-3 in the Champions League against Bruges. Barça has also stumbled again and again in the league in recent weeks, for example losing 2-1 at Real Madrid at the end of October. The Royals only managed a 0-0 draw at Rayo Vallecano in the afternoon, but were already six points ahead of Barcelona at the top of the table before the game in Vigo. With the win, the Flick team was able to shorten the gap to three points.

The next game is not scheduled until after the international break. Barça will face Bilbao at home on November 22nd. Three days later, the team competes in the Champions League against Chelsea.
