The Hamburger SV footballers still have to seriously worry about staying in the league in the Bundesliga. Coach Liese Brancao’s team deservedly lost the home game against Bayer Leverkusen 1:3 (1:1) and remained without a win for the fifth game in a row.
The lead over SGS Essen in the first relegation spot is only three points four game days before the end of the season, while the lead over bottom-placed Carl Zeiss Jena is four points.
The remaining program for the promoted team includes, among other things, the final home game against league leaders Bayern Munich. Vanessa Fudalla was once again the guarantor of success for the clearly superior Leverkusen team at the Volksparkstadion, who caught up with Pernille Harder in the top scorer list with her 14th goal of the season (10th).
In addition, Katharina Piljic (54th) and Julia Mickenhagen (77th) also scored despite the enormous increase in chances. Camilla Linberg (41st) had equalized in the meantime.
Thanks to the second three in a row, Bayer can still dream of third place in the Champions League qualification. The gap to Eintracht Frankfurt is five points, although the remaining program seems feasible.
