The municipality of De Wolden has signed a letter of intent for the Dunningen V housing plan in De Wijk. The plan puts an end to the agricultural use of the area.

The land, previously owned by three families, will be used for housing on the south side of the village. Dunningen V connects to the existing residential areas Dunningen I to IV.

“Dunningen V will be a green residential area with different types of homes,” explains councilor Gerrie Hempen. “These plans fit within our Housing Vision, which states that between 800 and 1,060 new homes should be built by 2030, of which 103 to 135 in the district,” the councilor concludes with satisfaction.

The urban plan consists of several small residential neighborhoods with different types of homes and lots of greenery. A wide green strip will be created between the new district and the existing buildings, providing a transition to the surrounding landscape.

The housing plan focuses on starters, families and seniors. In addition, attention is paid to sustainable and nature-inclusive construction. The development will be carried out in phases, so that housing needs can be met in the coming years.

At the beginning of this year, the municipality is organizing an information meeting for residents and other stakeholders. During this meeting, the initial plans will be explained and residents can submit points of interest.
