National coach Hansi Flick will have to do without Leroy Sané in the first group game against Japan. The reason is an injury to his right knee.
The FC Bayern offensive player had to stop training on Monday. The knee injury now seems so serious that the German team is unavailable for the first game on Wednesday.
Sané was considered one of the possible candidates for the starting XI against Japan. Now he has to wait longer for his first World Cup appearance. It is not yet known how long he will be out.
