“L’Équipe”: Atlético wants to sign Leipzig’s Mukiele

Leipzig (AP) – The French national soccer player Nordi Mukiele from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has, according to media reports, moved into the focus of Atlético Madrid.

As the “L’Équipe” wrote, the 24-year-old is to be the successor to Kieran Trippier, who has moved to Newcastle United and, if possible, will be signed in the winter. A first request from the Spanish champions was rejected by Leipzig because RB did not want to provide the next defensive support after the summer departures Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konaté.

However, Mukiele’s contract expires in 2023 and, following Leipzig’s transfer policy, either an extension or a sale would be due next summer. Mukiele made his debut for the national team in September. On Tuesday, the full-back tested positive for the corona virus and will be missing from the runner-up at the start of the second half on Saturday against FSV Mainz 05 (3.30 p.m. / Sky).
