There are Bundesliga professionals who pay attention to their diet-and there is Leopold across the field. The Berliner has held a special diet for eight years.
Leopold Querfeld played out at Union Berlin in a short time. The 21-year-old moved from Rapid Vienna to the Bundesliga in the summer-and now belongs to the regular staff in central defense.
In addition to his training, the Austrian international attaches particular importance to his diet. In conversation with the “Bild”, Querfeld said that he has consistently waived sugar since he was 13 years old. He also largely avoids gluten and lactose – albeit not quite as strictly: “With the other two, I make an exception on days off,” he says. However, his girlfriend sees it a little differently, he adds with a laugh.
This is particularly noteworthy against the background of his family: in Vienna, she runs a traditional coffee house – now in the third generation. Numerous sweet temptations are part of the offer there. But crossfield holds back.
Only an alternatively sweetened tartlet on the summer ticket was an exception. “But I prefer to look at the kitchen at home and hope that my girlfriend baked something again, then I know what’s inside,” says the 1.90-meter man.
With this discipline, the defender wants to continue to establish himself in the Bundesliga. He was also part of the squad with ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick. So far, cross field has played four caps.
