Leontine Ruiters received help from an unexpected source during her car accident in Ibiza. Afterwards she concludes that she survived the incident purely thanks to her deceased mother. “Guardian Angel.”

Leontine Ruiters has gone through a complicated period. It all started in Ibiza, where Marco Borsato’s ex-wife and her Facetune-addicted daughter — who invariably edits her photos so heavily that she barely looks like herself — were involved in a car accident. A pretty serious car accident.

Drunken Brit

A drunken Englishman forgot he was no longer driving on his own island and crashed head-on into their taxi at a roundabout in San Antonio. Leontine neatly wore her seatbelt and held it close to bruised ribs. Jada, less careful, suffered facial injuries. We didn’t see much of that, because again: Photoshop.

Yet the discomfort amid all the misery is remarkably manageable. For people who ask for peace and privacy, Leontine and Jada know how to find their way to the cameras surprisingly quickly. Jada was still in the hospital bed when she posted a photo online. Ask for privacy, but first make sure you set the lighting correctly.

Guardian angel

Leontine did it differently, but no less eagerly: with an emphatically trembling voice she spoke extensively to RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws. And now she is also in the Weekend.

She says that the car accident only ended this way because of a guardian angel. “Yes, it happened on my mother’s birthday, Sunday, May 24. It is very special for us that we came out of it so well.”

‘To know for sure’

So Leontine thinks that her mother Ria, who died on May 19, 2017, had something to do with the happy ending for them? “Yes, she definitely protected us.”

Furthermore, she emphasizes that she doesn’t really want to say anything about it. “Things are going well. Jada too. We have decided not to say anything substantive about the matter, because many things are still going on.”

Crazy stories

But why do we keep hearing Leontine talk about it if she doesn’t want to say anything? “It is very intense and at the same time we are extremely grateful that we are still alive. That is also the reason why I immediately put something on my Instagram, to prevent crazy stories. As it is written there, that is how it is.”

Finally, what does she think about the fact that the perpetrators have fled? “It makes the story crazier. It’s like being in a crazy movie that hasn’t ended yet. But we’re very grateful that we’re still here.”
