At the World Cup in Flachau, the American Mikaela Shiffrin cannot be beaten again. The race ends disappointingly for Lena Dürr and Emma Aicher.

Ski queen Mikaela Shiffrin has impressively underlined her status as gold favorite for the Olympic slalom, while Lena Dürr, on the other hand, is in a form crisis almost a month before the start of the Winter Games. In the 107th World Cup victory for the dominator from the USA at the night slalom in Flachau, Austria, Dürr was eliminated in the second run, as was Emma Aicher.

After finishing second behind world champion Camille Rast from Switzerland, Shiffrin celebrated her sixth victory in the seventh slalom of the season and the 70th overall in her favorite discipline. For this she won the record prize money of 70,000 euros and the honorary title of “Snow Princess”.

Her lead over her second-placed teammate Paula Moltzan was 0.41 seconds. Local hero Katharina Troupe came third on the Hermann Maier course, 0.65 seconds behind. Rast (+0.67) came fourth.

After seventh place in the first round, Aicher seemed to be well on the way to moving forward. Shortly after the last split, however, she was eliminated while in the lead. Dürr, who had already thrown away her ski poles in anger after finishing 13th in the first run, slid on her stomach across the slope after a threader.

Since her second place in the slalom in Copper Mountain (USA) at the end of November, Dürr has not been better than tenth in any of the following eight races. She achieved this place twice in her actually weaker discipline, giant slalom. In two of the four slaloms since Copper, she was eliminated in the second round.
