Leena Harkimo and Timo Kousa have been together for 20 years this year. The couple told Iltalehti the mood for their anniversary year at the Haiko Manor’s summer season.
– Time is up, Harkimo says.
– It went really fast, says Kousa.
At the moment, Harkimo and Kousa’s lives are, according to their own words, an adult life. The children of Harkimo and Kousa have already flown from the nest – growing up and independent.
The adulthood of children also brought a common address. At the beginning of their relationship, Harkimo and Kousa made a solution to live at different addresses to make it easier for the new family pattern. Three years ago, it was time to combine a common life under one roof, which has also brought more time for their relationship.

The secret of the long union
What is the secret of the long union then? Harkimo is responsible for communication and discussion. Kousa states that there must be enough fun to do together.
– Good being together and humor, Harkimo adds.
The couple currently lives in Sipoo. Now that age begins to accumulate, the couple has begun to think about moving to Kuusamo-at least part-time, if not completely.
However, no total pension plan is, as Harkimo and Kousa have a villa hotel in Kuusamo, which they intend to continue to run. The couple recently bought a former elementary school from its previous owner Finnair and renovated it for this decade. The place opened its doors in 2022.
For some, working with a partner is not suitable, but Harkimo and Kousa say together that there have been no drawbacks to the joint entrepreneurship. It has been rewarding for them.
