Artists compared

Here is the comparison between two greats of the 20th century comes to life through two series of works, The iridescent interpenetrations by Giacomo Balla of 1912 and the Plots by Piero Dorazio from 1960.

Works, the first, on small notepad sheets in which Balla “studies” the anatomy of light with pencils, watercolors, tempera and shapes between the abstract and the geometric. Large panels, colored in oil, the latterwith dense intertwining of lines, empty and full, where Dorazio “weaves” a web of matter and light.

It makes the visit even more engaging the layout designed by architect Mario Botta who chose a double register to combine such different works. Dorazio’s large, colorful canvases are hung on black panels while Balla’s works “float” at the bottom of white niches, which invite you to get closer to the work to discover all its details.

Maison Valentino renews its commitment to art in partnership with Triennale Milansponsoring one of the exhibitions that are part of the celebrations of the centenary of the cultural institution.

The exhibition Italian painting today brings together the work of 120 of the most interesting Italian artists, born between 1960 and 2000.

The people’s photographer

The Civic Museums of Bassano del Grappa, in collaboration with CAMERA – Italian Center for Photography of Turin, present the exhibition Dorothea Lange. The other Americadedicated to the famous American photographer, co-founder in 1952 of Openingsthe most authoritative photographic magazine in the world e first woman photographer to whom MoMa dedicated a retrospective in 1965just a few months before his passing.

The series never before exhibited in Italy dedicated to detention camps for Japanese-American citizens segregated following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 demonstrates the variety and depth of her research, always aimed at providing a sincere and participatory portrait of the world around her.
